Hyundai Verna Old vs New – Exterior Design Comparison

The 2017 Hyundai Verna builds on the current model while incorporating design touches that are in line with Hyundai’s Fluidic sculpture 2.0. Showcased as a concept a few months back, the production spec model features a new hexagonal chrome grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs and a rear end reminiscent of the Elantra sedan. The bonnet seems flatter now and the sedan looks much wider than the outgoing model.

At the back, the boot gets a much cleaner profile as the number plate moves to the bumper. The new Verna gets split tail lamps with possible LED inserts and look much sleeker than before. Other additions to the exteriors include new alloys wheels design, new rear view mirrors. Overall, the 2017 model looks more mature and should appeal to a much wider audience.

Hyundai Verna Old vs New – Interior Design Comparison

The interiors of the new Verna will feature simpler and more elegant lines in comparison to the current model. The steering wheel design will be similar to the Elite i20’s and the centre console takes inspiration from the upcoming Elantra sedan. The 2017 Hyundai Verna will get a centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment system and black-beige interiors with silver highlights. Expect additional features such as navigation, reverse parking camera, sunroof etc. to find their way into the cabin of the upcoming Hyundai Verna. The current model is often criticised for its cramped cabin and claustrophobic rear seat. Hyundai, in all probability, will address these issues with the launch of the new model.

Hyundai Verna Old vs New – Specifications

The current set of 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesel engines are likely to be carried forward to the new 2017 model Verna. These engine churn out 89 bhp – 220 Nm and 126 bhp – 230 Nm respectively. Manual transmission variants get a 6-speed gearbox while the 1.6 diesel can also be had with a 4-speed automatic. However, the new model should come with a 6-speed automatic instead. According to reports, the China-spec Verna will get 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol units. However, the petrol variants of the upcoming Verna could utilise a new 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit. This particular motor will come with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

Obviously, the new 2017 Hyundai Verna looks a lot more promising than the current model. The new model will address the issues of the current Verna while retaining all the desirable traits that make this sedan a compelling buy. The upcoming model could very easily challenge for the top spot once again.

Design – The new model looks grown up thanks to a more mature design, increased dimensions and cleaner lines. The interiors will be better both in terms of quality as well as design.

Specifications – We expect Hyundai to carry forward the same engines the current model. However, the new 2017 Verna could get an all new 1.4-litre turbo petrol with a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
