The new Compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki has been rather quick in garnering a very positive response from the prospective buyers. It is being reported that the manufacturer has already received over 95,000 bookings for the Vitara Brezza since its launch in March. The manufacturer has already sold over 27,000 units and the strong demand for the Brezza has resulted into huge waiting periods for almost all the variants. Maruti has, however, decided to take steps to curb the ever-burgeoning waiting period for this car. It has planned an increase in production to reduce the high waiting period. Currently, the Brezza commands a waiting of upto 9 months for some of its variants.

Maruti Vitara Brezza Exterior Design
Among the highlights of the new Vitara has to be its attractive design. On the outside, the car gets a dual-tone paint job, with the roof getting white or black paint shade as per the body paint option. The front-end features a stylish grille that pays homage to the iV-4 concept and then, there’s a neatly sculpted bumper that infuses some more aggression to the car’s nose. In side profile, you’ll be quick to notice this car’s compact dimensions and the overall dynamic stance. It looks sporty and definitely more stylish than a lot of other players in the market. The rear-end is neat too and we hardly see any reason for prospective car buyers to not fall for this car’s design.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Interior Design
The interior is a reflection of the smart exterior. There’s a smart-looking dashboard that features body color accents to infuse some excitement with an otherwise conventional design. And while there’s nothing really ground-breaking about the Vitara Brezza’s interior design, it would be safe to state that the cabin looks adequately cheerful and well put together. The Vitara Brezza is a strict five seater but gets large bootspace.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Engine & Transmission
Much like the S-Cross, the 2016 Maruti Vitara Brezza misses out on petrol engine options. It comes powered by the same Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multijet Diesel motor that powers many other cars in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio. This engine belts out a max. power of 89 bhp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. The Vitara Brezza boasts of a ground clearance of 198 mm.
The Vitara Brezza has been launched with a Diesel engine option ONLY. But don’t be too surprised if Maruti is seen plonking the 1.2-litre K-Series Petrol engine into this compact SUV if and when the need arises. Also on the cars could be a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol motor that also powers the Baleno RS. This new 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine pumps out a max. power of 110bhp and a peak torque of 170Nm. The Boosterjet engine option won’t come cheap as the new motor will be initially imported into the country.

2016 Maruti Vitara Brezza vs Old Vitara
The new 2016 Vitara Brezza could capitalize on the premium image the Vitara moniker enjoys in India. Compared to the Brezza, the now defunct Maruti Vitara SUV retailed in a much higher price bracket and competed with premium SUVs such as the Skoda Yeti. It also had a more powerful petrol motor and offered All Wheel Drive. In comparison, the Brezza will have a higher mass appeal and will rival the likes of Ford EcoSport.
